PRINCE GEORGE BANISHED.

SENT AWAY FROM BELGRADE.

The Servian Government has at last succeeded in forcing King Peter to adopt disciplinary measures for the ex-Crown Prince George. Protests have been made by a number of officials against the offensive conduct of Prince George during the past year. Heretofore, however, his father has succeeded in mollifying the persons whom the Prince has offended, but his encounter with M. Alimpitsh, the Prefect of Belgrade, proved too serious for even royal intervention.

Prince George, who has long cherished resentment against M. Alimpitsh, met him at the Court ball on New Year’s Eve, and publicly insulted him. The Prefect left the palace and promptly tendered his resignation, but the Cabinet refused to accept it, and informed King Peter that unless severe measures were taken against the ex-Crown Prince the Government would resign. It is announced that Prince George’s punishment will take the form of banishment to the remote village of Gornemilanovats, where he will be nominally attached to a battalion of the 10th Infantry regiment-

King Peter was reluctant to order bin favourite son’s departure from Belgrade, but public opinion is so strong that he dared not overlook his latest escapade. Great relief is felt that Prince George will no longer disturb the life of the capital. His mad pranks have caused great indignation during the past two years.
