CRICKET.

On Saturday Foxton was visited by a team from the Shannon Club, but owing to the short notice, the visitors were unable to bring a team anything like their full strength, and they also had to play two men short. Foxton was represented by a fairly strong team, and consequently had an easy victory. Tremewan (Shannon) won the toss, and elected to bat. However, the bowling of Redgrave and Bowe was too good, and they were all dismissed for the miserable score of 29. Redgrave and Robinson opened for Foxton, and the former very soon “ collared ” the bowling, scoring off almost every ball. He gave a splendid display of hitting, and after scoring 102, retired. The innings closed for 222, leaving the local team victorious by 193 runs. The return match will be played at Shannon on April 9, The following are the scores : SHANNON.
