A novel competition, drawing a pig blindfolded, was responsible for much amusement amongst the onlookers, and several weird imitations of a porker were sketched by those who essayed the task. The prize was-awarded by ballot, Master Murray Walls annexing first honours. The local band again contributed spirited selections, which added materially to the completion of the evening’s enjoyment. The first prize for grapes was annexed by Mrs Honore. A total of 466 entries were received, which shows the exhibits at this Show to be considerably in excess of those of previous occasions. The total receipts for the two days were about ,£29.
The amount awarded in prize money in the various classes for the Autumn Show totalled over £l6 in ordinary prizes and in special prizes. The Society wishes to acknowledge with thanks the donation of a number of hats from Messrs Collinson and Cunuinghame, Ltd., and Durward and Co., of Palmerston N., for use in the hat-tirramiug competition.
