CADETS CAMP UNDER WATER.
Weujngton, Yesterday,
Soaking rain fell all night and still continues. As a result the programme for Lord Kitchener today had to be greatly varied. The inspection of the forts, arranged to take place at 8.30 this morning, was not held, and the men at the forts have returned to town.
The meeting between the FieldMarshall, Sir Joseph Ward and members of the Defence Council, held at 10 o’clock, decided that Ford Kitchener should go out to the Hutt Park and inspect the 4000 cadets in camp there at 3.35 p.m.
The ground about the camp is under water and many tents are uninhabitable, the boys and officers going about in bare feet In many instances.
