LABOUR TROUBLES.

A BRIGHTER OUTLOOK FOR THE MINERS.

Svdnkv, February 16

The Newcastle miners’ ballot shows a majority of 129 in favour of accepting a Wages Board. One return is to come, but it cannot materially alter the result. Efforts are being made to have the mines cleaned up in readiness for working by Monday next. The Heleusburg mine has started work. The Southern mines which have resumed are working full-handed. A number of vessels, rendered idle through the strike, are getting ready to be recommissioned for the through service to Western Australia, which resumes from Saturday.
