THE VOICE OF LABOUR.

KEIR HARDIE SPEAKS. NOT FRIENDLY TO IRISH OR LIBERALS. London, February 10. The German Social Democratic Party telegraphed fraternal greetings to the Newport Labour Conference, and congratulations on the successes of the party at the polls, “despite the naval scare.” Mr Keir Hardie, M.P., (Chairman), in Lis address, said he did not pretend to be satisfied with the result of the elections. He complained that the Irish National League in Britain has ordered the Irish vote in three-cornered contests to be given to the Liberals. It was unlikely that Home Rule would be secured while the heads of the Irish organisation bludgeoned down the Labour candidates. The Labour Party must maintain complete freedom of action in the House of Commons and the constituencies.' The treatment meted out to the Labour candidates during the electiou was not of the kind to predispose them towards any undue friendly relationship with the Liberals. The talk about weakening the veto of the Lords was toying with the democracy. He demanded the abolition of the second chamber. London, February 10.

Mr Ben Tillet, the London Labour leader, caused a scene at the Labour Conference by accusing Mr Henderson of blackguardism, and by complaining that labour leaders supported the candidature of Mr A. Mond, the Liberal member for Swansea. Mr Tillet added : “Mr Mond deliberately attempted to bribe me!”
