THE HAMILTON SENSATION
ARREST OF A YOUNG MAN.
Hamilton, February 10. A gun and a spent cartridge have been found hidden in a hedge adjacent to the spot where the bank manager and teller were fired upon at Mystery Creek. There seems little doubt that th e attack was premeditated.
Eater. John Minton Pauli, a lad, has been arrested in connection with the Mystery Creek affair. It is alleged that he was seen on horseback in the vicinity of the spot where the bank clerk was fired at, and the gun found is said to correspond with one in his possession previously. John Minton Pauli was before the Court this morning charged with shooting with intent to murder. The police asked for a remand for a week.
Accused counsel did not object, but applied for bail, which was refused.
Pauli is about 19 years of age, and was employed by a local firm of gram merchants as a junior clerk. The affair has created a profound sensation, as accused ia well known locally.
