HOROWHENUA AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
The agricultural show, to be held at Levin on the gtb, promises to lie the most successful yet held. Large entries have been banded in, and in all classes at least a 25 per cent, increase is shown. In [lie pig classes, one of the best displays ever shown along the Coast will take place, nearly 70 pigs having been entered. Large entries of dairy cattle have been made, and a fine display will lake place. The experimental farm is making a very fine display of dairy stock — bulls, pigs, and rams —and also a lot of wheat, barley and oats. The wheat was grown ou the farm this season, and shows a return of 60 bushels to the acre, which shows the laud in the district is well suited for wheat growing. The side-shows have already begun to arrive on the grounds, and these will cause great enjoyment with the children. We should certainly advise our Foxtou readers to attend, and we feel sure that they will have a real good day’s enjoyment. In the motor bike race 16 entries are made, driving competitions 27 entries, pony races 35 entries, and trotting races 12 entries. All other competitions have filled well.
Excursion fares have been granted by the Railway Department.
