REPLY TO “MORE LIGHT.”
[To the Editor.]
Sir, —In your issue of Thursday you publish a letter from a gas consumer, writing over the nomde plume of “More Tight,” complaining of the quality of the gas in Foxton on Wednesday night. This came as a great surprise to me, and after reading it I wept to several consumers and asked them if they noticed anything wrong with the gas the previous evening. They all said no ; they thought it was very good, I think it would have been better if “ More Tight’’ had come to me with his complaint instead of rushing into print. Very likely the gentleman’s gas burners want cleaning, or the mantle wants renewing, or there may be some other local trouble I might have remedied if I had known about it. In conclusion, I should like to say I shall be pleased at all times to place my services at any gas consumer’s disposal re the efficient lighting of their houses, but, of course, I am unable to do so if people write to the paper under a nom de plume instead of coming to me with their complaint. —I am, etc., H. STIINR-U,.
