The Budget Committee of the Reichstag ignored the Burgomaster of Luederitz Bay’s petition for an enquiry into the diamond concessions. Hundreds of colonists held a torchlight procession in honour of the Burgomaster and Governor. The Reichstag Committee, by 15 to 13, rejected the ratification of the commercial treaty with Portugal.
