GARDEN FETE.

The Garden Fete next Wednesday, to be held[at ‘‘The Vicarage,” promises to be a big affair. The secretary Mr Woods, and numerous helpers are to be busy preparing the grounds early in the week. The ladies have done their part exceedingly well. The entrance fee is so small that a large crowd is sure to be present —a most enjoyable afternoon and evening can be spent for the sum of sixpence. The Member for the district and the Mayor will both be present and during the evening the band will play selections ot music. A pleasant feature of this carnival is that it affords an opportunity of gathering together in a social way all creeds and schools of thought. With a few innocent amusements for the children and grown ups, and an abundant supply of good things to eat, an excellent open-air concert with a good light and nature’s green floor for those who wish to chase the glowing hours with flying feet, a novelty unique and pleasant will be their’s to enjoy to the fullest. The social life is good—it draws us together and makes us realise the brotherhood of man. We wish the undertaking every success and especially so, as we learn its object is not soley to raise funds, as to meet together as brothers and sisters in the bond of true friendship.
