DID THEY COMMIT MURDER?
THE EVIDENCE OF AN APE. Ni:w York, January 24. Akerome, owner of a menageiie at Devall’s landing, Louisiana, was murdered while feeding an ape. The ape afterwards always flew into a terrible rage whenever it saw Starr, an employee of the menagerie, and his wife. The Starrs were arrested, tried, and sentenced to imprisonment lor life. It is understood that the ape’s rage in Court at the sight of the Starrs influenced the jury more than did other circumstantial evidence.
