REMARKABLE BOYCOTT.

Nkw York, January 21

Believing that the shortage of cattle in the stock-raising States is not wholly responsible for the dearness of beef, 11,000 heads of families in Cleveland pledged to abstain from meat for sixty days. The labour Unions helped to forward the boycott, which, within a few days, spread throughout the Mississippi Valley. The price of meat in Cleveland has already declined. The boycotters now exhort the people not to pay beyond 30 cents a dozen for eggs, on the ground that supplies in cold storage are being with-held in order to keep up present prices.
