FOXTON RACING CLUB
THE ANNUAL RACK GATHERING.
Anniversary Day was all that could be desired from a weather point of view, and, as a result, the racing folk streamed into Foxton to attend the annual race gathering of the above Club. Caretaker Shadbolt had the course and appointments looking at their best, and the lawn presented an animated picture, bedecked as it was with the many fascinating gowns of the fair sex. The Foxton Borough Brass Baud, under conductor Colder, contributed a programme of catching airs, which certainly gave pleasure to the outing. Some of the racing was of the best, though the Cup proved a hollow runaway victory for Adria, Harry Jackson’s Feilding charge. The luncheon, as provided by Langley Brothers in their usual masterly style, was well patronised, while Host Harvey appeared to do good business in the liquid refreshment department. The different Club officials all worked with a will and systematically to ensure the success of the gathering, though special mention should be made of the secretary (Mr Angus Keith), whose courteous and obliging manner earned him much kudos among the Club’s patrons. The totalisator receipts showed a falling off as compared with last year. Bookmakers rolled up in strong force, and provided ,£240 in fees towards the Club’s finances. Results of the racing :
