THE KNYVETT CASE.
Auckland, Jan. 10,
Uocal volunteer circles are agitated to exclusion of well nigh everything else just now over the Defence Department’s decision to dismiss Captain F. B. Knyvett from the defence forces, and opinion is very strong among officers and men. The action of Captain Knyvett’s own company in refusing to attend any more parades until he is reinstated is viewed with pretty general satisfaction, while a distinct spirit of sympathetic resentment and unrest is manifesting itself in the attitude of several other companies. The meeting at garrison officers tomorrow evening is expected to be productive of some uncompromising opinions on the subject.
