POKER.

AN UNLAWFUL GAME. Wanganui, December 21. Roux Eouisson was fined £xo at the Police Court this morning on a charge of keeping a common gaming house where poker was played. Prior to 1907 poker was not considered an unlawful game, but under section five of the Act of 1908 it is not necessary to prove that money was being played for, and section ten laid down every game of chance as unlawful. The Magistrate decided that poker was a game of chance.
