POLICE COURT.
At the local Police Court this ; morning before Messrs A. Fraser ' andF. W. Frankland J’s.P., James Howe was charged on the information of the Police with (i) being found drunk in a public place whilst in charge of a horse and trap, (2) with using threating behaviour in a public place whereby a breach of the peace may have been occasioned, and (3) with using obscene language within the the hearing of passers by. Mr Reade appeared for accused who pleaded guilty to the three charges. The justices inflicted a fine of five shillings in default 24 hours’ imprisonment on the first charge, 10s or 48 hours on the second, > 20s with costs £1 10s, or seven days on the third charge. The fines were paid, Mr Reade, on behalf of defendant, asked that a prohibition order be issued against accused for twelve months, which was granted.
