HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A general meeting of the. abo'iyg® 7 ' was held in the Council Chamber last night. There was a good attendance of members', Mr Alex. Speirs, president, in the chair. Correspondence was read from Mr E. Newman M.P., consenting

to officially open the show provided that his Parliamentary duties do not prevent him. From the Borough Band, offering to play on both nights of show for the sum of £1 is. —It was decided to accept the offer. Mrs Stewart reported that she had interviewed Mrs Witchell in

reference to judging the fancy goods classes, and that she had consented to act.

Miss Symons was elected to fill the vacancy on the committee caused by Mrs Austin leaving the, district.

The Secretary reported that Mr Martin had offered to act as night- ; watchman for the sum of £l, and y it was decided to engage him. It was decided to screen off all exhibits with wire netting to prevent prize tickets from being shifted. It was decided to allow exhibitors to take away their exhibits on the second night of the Show be-

tween 10 and 10.30 o’clock, and Messrs J. Ross, Bright, Hender-

son, Woods and Kempster were appointed to assist the stewards in handing over exhibits.

Other minor matters in connection with the Show were arranged

and the meeting terminated.
