Harold Edwin Curtis was today fined £5 for receiving an order for whisky in a No-License district. WiauNOTON, Nov: 19. Jack Roberts, the young jockey found on Kaiwarra hills two days ago, with a bullet wound in the forehead and a revolver by his side died in the hospital this morning. He came from Marlborough. Cork, Nov. 19. Henry Matthews, 32, married, with two children, was engaged by the day to shift lignite at Green’s pit- He did not return home last evening. His wife became alarmed and communicated with the mine manager, who, with his son made haste to the mine. Inspection revealed Matthews’ body almost covered with four or five tons of lignite coal broken up. On getting the body clear it was found that life was extinct. It is supposed deceased fired a shot which was heard about four o’clock, and that it failed to bring down the coal. Thereupon he must have commenced to hew out the wall, with the result that the loosened coal fell on him.
