THE TICKET-OF-LEAVE MAN.

PUBDIC HADD, NOVEMBER

On Tuesday evening next, the King's Birthday, at the Public Hall, local play-goers will be afforded an opportunity of witnessing for the first time in Foxton, that sensational four-act drama by Mr Tom Taylor, “The Ticket-of-leave Man,” which will be staged by the local Athletic Club’s Amateur Dramatic Society. This drama, founded on the French tale, ‘‘ De Retour de Melun,” In “DesDrames de la Vie,” by MM. Bris barre and Nue, is of a most sensational and thrilling character. It has been played with great success by most of the leading companies in all the large cities in the world. The local Society have spared no effort to make the staging of the drama a pronounced success, having carefully rehearsed it for some months past. The scenic effects will be most realistic, having been specially painted for the piece by Mr George Tarr, of the Phil Walsh Dramatic Company. The makeup of the different characters will all be most appropriate, the Society hawing secured the services of Mr Tarr for this purpose. Mr Tarr will also render refined vocal items beween the acts, which will obviate that dreary wait which is usually so pronounced in amateur productions. All prizes and trophies won during the day will be presented to the respective winners by his Worship the Mayor, G. H. Stiles Esq., between the second and third acts. The music will be supplied by an orchestra comprising piano (Miss Jenks), cornet (Mr Golder), and two violins (Miss Cook and Master Carl Berthold) and the incidental music will be played by Mrs Tarr. Considering the trouble the Society has taken to produce this play it is hoped that they, will be rewarded by a bumper house on Tuesday evening. The prices of admission have been fixed at 3s, 2s and is, and tickets can be obtained from all members of the Society.
