MANAWATU A. AND P. SHOW.
—Judging from the entries received for the forthcoming Metropolitan Agricultural Show and Industrial Exhibition of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association, there will be a large display in all departments which will sufficiently maintain the prestige and excellency of this show. The programme for the show can be summarised as follows : Wednesday, November 3rd. —A number of the pony classes and harness horses are judged, besides competitions in the show ring, the principal of these being the maiden hunters’ competition in which 35 horses are competing. The pigs and poultry are also judged ou this day. The art, industrial, public school needlework, and home industries divisions for which there are some j 1400 entries which will require “A something like five thousand feet of space. This department will be open from 9 a.m. on the first day of the show, the judging taking place before the opening day. On Thursday, November 4th., which is the principal day for judging cattle and sheep, there is always a large attendance of farmers- The public are entertained in the show ring by the hunters’ competitions for lady riders, some 26 horses competing, and a steeplechase riders’ competition for which over thirty horses are entered; The Manawatu Kennel Club’s exhibits are judged on this day and the entries total T~ over 500. Friday, November sth, is known as the People’s Day, and is mostly given to the exhibition of stock and competitions in the show rings which latter includes competitions for ponies, lady riders and drivers, and the hunters’ competitions for the forty guinea challenge cup and in prizes fifty, horses being entered tor this event. Intending visitors should note that excursion V— fares prevail on the railways. The Show is well worth a visit from those interested in agriculture, and even the general public will find profit and pleasure in paying a visit. A large number of novelties will be found in the side show division and something like one and a half acres will be required to accommodate this feature of the amusements.
