BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last. night for the purpose of confirming the special order authorising the sale of portions ot certain streets, to pass balance sheet and consider replies from auditors. Present: His Worship the Mayor (G. H. Stiles Esq.,) Crs Rimmer, Coley, Speirs, Robinson, Adams, and Levett. It was decided that the special order made on September 20th, authorising the sale of portions of Thynne, Robinson and Reeve Streets be now confirmed. The balance sheet as received back from audit office be now settled and signed by His Worship the Mayor. The following offers were received from the various accountants for auditing the Gas Proprietary’s books and furnishing. a report as to the cost of the works:—Badham and Biss 4s per day, Rowley and Gill £2 12s 6d per day, Kember and Son £2 2s per day. It was decided on the motion of Cr Levett, seconded by Cr Adams, that Messrs Kember and Son’s offer be accepted. A circular letter was read from Mr B. R. Gardener, Mayor of Levin, in .reference to the LevitxMarton railway, asking the Council to appoint two or more delegates to form part of a deputation from the various local bodies in terested to wait on the Government in reference to having the line surveyed. The Mayor and Cr Levett were appointed to represent the Foxton Borough Council. VALUATOR’S BEPORT. In accordance with a resolution of the Council the appointed Valuator valued those portions of Thynne and Robinson Streets proposed to be sold to adjoining owners as follows: — Thynne Street.—Sections 59 to 64 inclusive have each a frontage to the street of two chains by a depth of two and a half chains, I value the proposed additions to these sections at 10s each, section 58 is. on the corner of Russell and Thynne Streets, and the addition will increase the frontage of this section on Russell Street by 33ft, while the frontaga to Thynne Street is about one and a half chains, I value this section at ; the remaining section on the corner of Park and Thume ; Street will gain 33ft additional ' frontage on Park Street by a 1 depth on Thynne Street of two : chains, this section I value at 1 total valuation of Thynne Street < made up by six half-acre : sections at £l2 10s and two i corner sections, one at and ’ one at £25. „ Robinson Street. —In the por- < lions proposed to be sold are two ; sections only, one a corner one i and the adjoining one, both being • 1 subdivisions of section 522, the ( corner will gain 33ft additional j Frontage on Easton Street by 1 nearly one a half chains on ’ Robinson Street. I value this at 1 £2O. The adjoining section has < nnly one chain frontage to Robin- i son Street, and I.value this one at 1 £6 1 os. Total valuation of part of I Robinson Street £26 xos being i me corner section at £2O and . me at £6 xos, < Total valuation of both streets 1 £146 10s. J
