THE INQUEST.

Christchurch, October 22

The inquest concerning the death of Alice Edith Newman, the young woman who was fatally shot on Monday night in the Silver Grid Boardinghouse, was resumed to-day. Roberts, the young man who is charged with the murder, was present in court, and appeared to listen attentively to the evidence throughout. Lengthy evidence was given, mainly bearing on the conversations between accused and others, before Monday night. The inquest was adjourned till tomorrow.
