The Manawatu Herald. Saturday, Octob er 16, 1909. PROJECTED EXTRA TRAM SERVICE TO FOXTON.

The Manawatn County Council has under consideration the running of a cheap passenger tram service between Pukenni (north of Sandon and near the Bulls bridge) and Foxton, on five days in the week, probably commencing next month. A special committee has been set up to consider the question. The suggested return fare from Pukenui to Foxton is 2s 6d, which is much less than that charged on the railways. This service should help to increase the importance of Foxton from a commercial point of view, and facilitate a more economical journey to and from Wellington by settlers in the Sandon district. It will also afford up-country settlers and their families an opportunity of spending a day at the seaside.
