BOXING.

JOHNSTON V. KETCHEL

San Francisco, October rs

The pugilistic contest between Johnston (champion of the world), and S. Ketchel has been definitely fixed for Saturday at San Francisco,

[Ketchell, the middle-weight champiom, did not impress the critics very much in his recent showing against Papke, but has a fine record. The American correspondent of the Sydney Referee writes: “Ketchell, since his go with Billy Papke, has been up in the mountains of Mendocine, deer-killing, and leading the simple life- It is claimed that he put on a lot of weight while away, but I must say that I noticed no particular difference in his bulk when I saw him in this city after his return from his outing. Ketchell still looks forward to his contest with Jack Johnson in San Francisco next month, but just at present the prospect is not causing any excitement.”]
