London, October 12. In the Supreme Court Mrs Leigh has commenced a civil suit against the Home Secretary (Mr Gladstone) the governor, and . the doctor of the Birmingham prison.

She states that she was handcuffed alter breaking the window of her cell. She starved for four days, and the two doctors, the matron and eight wardresses tilted her chair backwards and forcibly__ fed her through the nostrils. . V*

Mrs Leigh broke the windows of the hospital cell, and was finally put to bed in a padded cell. She piled the bed,, table and chairs against the door, keeping the warders out for three hours.
