MAGISTRATES COURT.

The monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held before Mr A. D. Thompson S.M., yesterday. breaches op borough by-laws. John Heunessy, K. Furrie, R* Bright and J. McKnight were charged wilb riding bicycles without lights and were fined five shillings each with costs, seven shillings. CIVIL CASES. Judgment for plaintiffs wa entered up in the following undefended civil cases Advances to Settlers v. T. V. Proctor, claim £j 2S, costs 15s ; and Austin and Park v. William Moffatt, £2 3s qd, costs 1 os. In the judgment summons A. E* Shadbolt v. James Joe, judgment debtor who did not appear was ordered to pay the amount, £2 8s forthwith in default three days’ imprisonment in Wellington prison. MAINTENANCE CASE, Robert Andrew was charged on the information of A. E. Andrew with disobeying an order ol the Court, under the Destitute Persons’ ‘ Act. The arrears amounted to £6. Defendant pleaded that he had been unable to obey the order as he had not earned the money. The Magistrate sentenced defendant to one month’s imprisonment, order to be suspended for fourteen days to enable the defendant to pay the amount in arrear.
