Masonic Farewell Social.
There was a large attendance of members of the local Masonic Lodge, together with their lady and gentlemen friends, at the Masonic Hall, last night, for the purpose of entertaining Bro. and Mrs O. E. Austin, at a farewell social. Those present spent a most enjoyable time. Wor. Bro. A. D. Clemett, assisted by Bros. - Woods and Gillies, officiated as Vocal items were rendered by Mrs Tiviotdale and Mr Fowler (encored), recitations, etc., were contributed by Bros, Clemett, Hornblow and Woods. Accompaniments were played by Mrs Phillips and Miss Jenks. The dance music was supplied by Mr Berthold. At a suitable juncture Wor. Bro. Hornblow, on behalf of the Lodge, expressed regret at the guests departure, and conveyed to them the best wishes of the brethren, for their future welfare. Wor. Bro. Clemett endorsed , the previous speaker’s remarks. S. Steward on behalf of f»Foxton Tennis Club, presented rs Austin with some silver and cut-glass toilet ware. In doing so she laid stress on the good work accomplished ‘by the recipient to further the Club’s affairs. Mr Austin suitably responded. Mr Hornblow also referred to the early departure of Mrs Austin, senr., and Miss Austin, and said ; the good wishes of all their old ; and new friends would follow ■' them wherever the future led ; item. ; The company, before breaking - . up, joined hands and sang “Auld <T Lang Syne,” and finished up with ft' .. “They are Jolly Good Fellows.”
