THE HARMONIOUS HUXHAMS.
Next Tuesday evening should see the local Public Hall well patronised by the mirth-loving portion of Foxton. The Harmonious Huxhams Comedy Company come with a big Australian reputation. The papers of this country also speak well of it. The matter Which is handled by the members is primarily mirthprovoking and of good tone. This is enriched by harmonised vocal items. Some operatic choruses may be found in st’>nge settings, but when the parts are sung correctly by good voices, the effect is very far indeed from being unpleasant. This is evidenced in a striking fashion by the inclusion of ‘‘The Soldiers’ Chorus” from the opera Faust in ‘‘The Three Muskateers,” which is a sketch performed by the company. The company is of greater strength than when it was last in Foxton. Miss Eva Scott (just from Australia) is a decided acquisition. She is a young lady of just 16 years of age, and sings coon songs with taste and sweetness. She is also a clever little dancer. Until lately she was a member of one of J. C* Williamson’s touring companies, which lately returned from the East. Mr John Gilchrist, Edith Maitland, Professor Von Eubbe and Mr Clive Lawrence are also members of the Company. In addition to the operatic selections, illustrated songs, comedy sketches and dances, the programme will include a few chosen moving pictures, including ‘‘The King’s Derby of 1909,” which should prove an attraction in itself, showing as it does, the King’s, horse winning the world’s greatest race.
