FOOTBALL.

The final for the Abraham Cup was played at Palmerston on Saturday, between Old Boys and Palmerston, resulting in a draw, neither side scoring. At the end of the game, iu accordance with the Abraham Cup competition rules, two extra spells of ten minutes each had to be played, but no score was registered in this either. The match will therefore have to be re-played next Saturday.

The football match Otago y. Canterbury was played at Dunedin on Saturday, iu splendid weather, resulting iu a win for the former by nine to three. The Otago forwards were superior to their opponents, especially in the scrums, the result being that the Canterbury backs, who were faster and more resourceful than those on the Otago side, got very few chances.

At Carterton on Saturday the Wellington reps defeated Wairarapa by 15 to it points.

The Collingwood football team, which was leading at half time, after being oxygened was easily defeated by the nou-oxygened South Melbourne team iu the final League match.
