MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
At Wednesday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council, the Tramway Manager reported that the amount of traffic was not so good as for the same month last year. The credit balance for the month was 12s yd. The principal items of traffic were: Merchandise 108 tons, grain 55 tons, timber 41,900 feet, metal 210 cubic yards, fares £g 5s 3d. The Treasurer reported the following balances : General account dr., ,63276 7s id ; Loan account, cr., 9s 6d ; net debit balance The amounts for expenditure in the different ridings to March 31, 1910, were set out as follows: Sandou 3s iod, Mt. Stewart £l2O ns 4d, Waitohi 9s iod, Rongotea £267 15s iod, Carnarvon 4s gd, Kawakawa £252 8s id, Awahou 15s gd, Whirokino /141 16s nd. Accounts amounting to 15s gd were passed for payment. The following transfers were ageeed to: Stevens, Easton and Austin to J. Barker, Section 28, Moutoa estate; W. Webb to F. S. Easton, Section 442, etc., Foxton.
The overseer reported on the Awahou Riding as follows ; General repairs have been effected on the Foxton-Shannon road, in the shape of carting metal and patching up weak places and filling in ruts. The culvert opposite Mr Smith’s has also been lengthened, and repairs carried out on the Karikari and Elkin’s-Motuiti roads; similar repairs. have been effected in the Whirokino subdivision on No. 2 and No. 3 lines, and on the Foxton-Whirokino road.
