FOXTON ATHLETIC CLUB.

A DRAMATIC SOCIETY FORMED. The meeting convened by the Foxtou Athletic Club for the purpose of discussing the proposal to form an Amateur Dramatic Society, was held in Mr Pcrreau’s rooms on Thursday evening. Dr Adams (president of the Athletic Club) presided, and there was a very satisfactory attendance.

The Chairman explained that the question of form mg a dramatic society had been discussed at the annual general meeting of the Athletic Club, when it was decided to convene a meeting of all interested in the project and a committee had been set up to frame rules etc., to be submitted at the meeting. He them read the rules that the committee had drawn up.

It was decided that an amateur dramatic society be formed to be called The Foxton Athletic Club’s Amateur Dramatic Society, to be worked under the auspices of the Foxton Athletic Club. All members of the Society to be members of the Foxton Athletic Club. The membership subscription was fixed at 2S 6d. The following committee was appointed : —■ Dr Adams (chairman), Messrs A. Fraser, J. T. Eevett, W. Gordon, A. H. Boyes, G. S. Fowler, F. D, Whibley (secretary), Mesdames Rodie, Adams and Miss Eevett. The appointment of prompter and assistant stage manager was held over until the mejting of the committee to be held on Wednesday evening. It was decided that one performance be given annually on behalf of charity. Other minor matters were discussed and the meeting terminated.

COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Foxton Athletic Club Committee was held in Mr Peneau’s rooms last night. Present; Dr Adams (President), Messrs S. Messena (Vice-President) A. Wynd, Healey, Gordon, Gillies, Martin, Perreau, Boyes and Whibley (secretary). Mr F. Lawton notified that owing to ill-health, he would be unable to act on the committee this year, and Mr A. Imrie was elected to fill the vacancy. Mr J. Coilingwood was appointed handicapper on the same terms as last year. A committee consisting of Messrs P. T. Robinson, W. Gordon and F. D. Whibley was appointed to draw up a programme and submit same at next meeting of the committee.

The rules drawn up at the meeting of the Dramatic Club were approved. Mr Messena stated that owing to the tides not being suitable, he would be unable to extend the sculling handicap over three days. It would have to be rowed on Friday and Saturday, December 3 and 4, and therefore the proposed meeting at that time would have to be either abandoned, or run on the day before.

After considerable discussion the question of a gaslight meeting was brought up, and it was decided that enquiries be made as to the cost of lighting up the track, and that a special general meeting be held on Monday evening to discuss the question.
