ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Christchurch, August 19. An old man named Eouis Elerig, residing on the Springfield Road, St. Albans, suddenly disappeared last night. He was with some friends up to 10 o'clock, and left them to go to his home, but he has not been heard of since that time. Eater;, The body of the man Elerig was found in the river to-day. Auckland, August rB. Charles Plattner, a gumdigger, aged 64, was very severely burned in his whare at Kaukapakapa today. He was brought to the Auckland Hospital this evening in a critical condition.
