THE MISSING WARATAH.
A HOPEFUL CIRCUMSTANCE.
London, August 18

The Standard says that one hopeful view is that it would seem impossible for a ship of the Waratah’s size to go to pieces without a sign of wreckage. It is thought possible that the Paparoa may sight the Waratah. The Lund Company, who still are very hopeful, report that about 220 people were aboard the Waratah, including 200 passengers. Privisions are ample for two months at a full menu. The captain of the Ipsizwa has wired to the owners that he is now doubtful as to whether he saw the bodies, as it was too rough to investigate, Capetown, August 18. The cruisers Hermes and Forte returned to Simonstown without discovering anything of the Waratah. Albany, August 19.
