FOXTON ATHLETIC CLUB.

f The annual general meeting of the Foxton Athletic Club was held in Mr Perreau’s rooms last night. Dr Adams (vice-president) presided, and there was a good attendance of members. An apology for absence was received from Mr Newman, M.P. The Secretary submitted the annual report and balance sheet which showed a credit on the year’s working of £7 3s 6d ; of this amount there is still ,£3 13s 6d out-standing. The receipts for the year amounted to ,£l3B 3 s 3d> the chief of which were: —Gate Receipts ,£34 12s 6d : nominations and acceptances, £32 19s; donations, £25 is; members’ subscriptions, £lO 10s. The expenditure totalled £134 13s 3d, of which prize money accounted for £67 os 6d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron, Mr E. Newman, M.P.; President, Dr Adams ; VicePresidents : Messrs G. H. Stiles, S. Messena, F. W. Frankland, B. G. Gower, Dr. Mandl, O. Robinson, M. H. Walker, J. K. Hornblow, F. Woods, J. Stevens, W. Ross and J. T. Levett; Secretary, < - F. D. Whibley; Treasurer, Mr E. Healey ; Committee : Messrs P. T. Robinson, M. E- Perreau, R. Hynes, J. Gillies, A. Wynd, F, Martin, W. Gordon, A. H. Boyes, R. Baker, G. Fowler, F. Hadfield and F. Lawton ; markers, the Committee ; Judges: Messrs W. E- Barber, J. K. Hornblow, B. G. Gower, M. H. Walker, C. H. Collins, E. Ball, A. J. Gibbs, W. J. White, S. Messena and A. Speirs. Auditors: Messrs G. W. Morgan and P. G. Jackson. Starter, Mr E. E. Smith ; assistant starter, Mr A. Wynd; timekeepers, Messrs R. M. Parkes and R. H. Bright. The question of date of sports was discussed at some length, the Chairman stating that in conversation Mr Messena had stated if the Athletic Club desired it he would arrange for the sculling handicap to extend over three days, the heats to be run on the first day, the Athletic Club’s sports to be held on the second day and the semi-finals and final of the sculling race to occupy the third day. Mr Fowler said that if it were decided to hold a sports meeting at the time of the sculling race, he fuld guarantee a new bicycle as prize for a road race to commence and finish in the Park. After considerable discussion it was decided on the motion of Mr Ball, seconded by Mr Healey, that offer of Mr Fowler be accepted with thanks and that the annual sports metting be held on the King’s Birthday, and that a special meeting be held at the time of the sculling handicap, the chief races at which will be a 120yds Sheffield Handicap of about £4O and the road race. The question of an entertainment on the night of the sports was discussed and it was decided that a meeting of all interested in the formation of a Dramatic Society of the Foxton Athletic Club be held in Mr Perreau’s rooms on Thursday evening and Messrs Dr. Adams, Fowler, Gordon, Boyes and Whibley were appointed a committee to draw up rules, etc.
