MOUTOA SCHOOL CONCERT.

A concert in aid of the funds of the School Committee was held last night at Moutoa, and despite the heavy rain which fell during the evening, there was a large and appreciative audience, Mr Gardner’s hall being more than full. The programme, arranged by Mr Galland, the headmaster, was a very long one, and every item was well received. The singing by 18 or 20 of the children was a strong feature of the programme, and there was not a discordant voice, nor a hitch of any kind to mar the effect. The recitations were also well rendered, and as well received.
After the children had supplied the first part of the programme, a local glee-party, organised by Mr Gallaud, produced several glees and choruses, namely:—“ Forward gaily together,” 11 The Blacksmith,” “Oh Haste Away,” “ John Peel,” and “ The Canadian Boat Song. Miss Nimmo, rendered a recitation, “ A Bush-bred Youngster,” in her usual good style, and Messrs A. Saunders and Stanley Pearce the duet “ Harboard Watch.” Songs were also rendered by Miss Walden,, and Messrs Galland and Hudson. A humorous song, ‘‘Pushed in through the Window” (encored), was given in costume by Messrs Galland, Pearce, Hudson, and Saunders ; and as a closing item, a dialogue, “The Bashful Man,” was well rendered by tbe Misses Newth (3) and Messrs Hudson and Pearce. Mr G.ilhnd thanked all who had helped, especially Mr Gardner, who had placed everything, even to the piano, at the disposal of the promoters. Mr A. Saunders, Chairman of the Committee, called for cheers for Messrs Galland and Gardner. A large number remained to the dance which followed, Mr Cochran supplying the music-
