LIEUT. SHACKLETON.
London, August 12
Lieut. Shackleton states that his expedition cost ,£43,000 and the expenditure still continues as a staff of nine is working out the scientific results. He does not desire to bring personal pressure to bear for a national grant.
Mr Asquith stated that a Government grant towards Lieut. Shackleton’s expenses was under consideration.
