PRESBYTERIANISM.

A meeting of the Wanganui Presbytery was held at Marton on Tuesday and the attendance of Ministers and elders constituted a record. The Rev Mr White, (moderator) presided. A petition signed by over one hundred members and adherents of the Foxton charge was presented by Mr Hornblow, praying the Presbytery to take the necessary steps to raise the charge from a Home Mission station to a fully sustained one and .to ordain and induct the Rev Mr Aitken as minister in charge. Mr Hornblow briefly outlined the history of the charge and urged that the prayer of the petitioners be acceded to. The Rev Mr Jolly supported Mr Hornblow and produced documents from Glasgow and Queensland touching Mr Aitken's theological training and work. After discussion it was unanimously decided to send the request on to the Assembly where it will be supported by members of Presbytery. Plans for the alteration to the local Manse were also approved.
