FOOTBALL.

The fourth round of the competition for the Austin’s Banner will be commenced on Saturday, wLen Awahou and Rongotea will on the racecourse. The game will commence at 3 p.m., ■and Dr. Adams will referee. Nominations of teams for the Abraham Cup competition close on Saturday, the 31st inst. It is hoped that both the local Clubs will nominate teams. There is trouble in the camp of the Manawatu Rugby Union over the place where the Kia Toa — Feilding match is to be played. This match was postponed from 3rd inst., owing to bad weather. On that date the Kia Toa team travelled to Feilding, where the match was set down to be played, but as the ground was not fit to be played on, the match was postponed. It is now contended by the Kia Toa delegate (Mr Armstrong) that the match should be played at Palmerston, as their team travelled to Feilding to play the match, and it was no fault of theirs that the ground was not fit for play; further it had previously been decided that the final match should be played at Palmerston. He moved at Monday night’s meeting of the Union that the match be played at Palmerston. '"'The Chairman (Mr Pirani) refused to accept the motion, as the match had been previously fixed for Feilding. Further, this match was a postponed one, and not a final. After some further discussion the matter was allowed to drop. Now, owing to two members of the committee being absent when the discussion was on, it was decided to hold a meeting at noon to-day, to further discuss the question.

The team to. represent Awahou in their match against Rongotea on the racecourse on Saturday will be picked from the following : Marsh, Bird, Tuohey, Rore, J. Joe, Frankland, Jeffries, Hooker, Saveli, Waiiklyn, Cleveland, Reihana, Robinson, Andresen, Reid, Haeana and Withers.
