NO-LICENSE IN NEW ZEALAND.

ALLEGATIONS DENIED.

Dunedin. July 28

In May a telegram, published in the New Zealand press, stated that Mr Lesina, a member of the Queensland Assembly, found that No-License in New Zealand was a failure. Mr Nicholls (agent for the No-License party here) has handed to the Daily Times a statement signed by the Mayors, M.P.’s, etc., in No-License districts in Otago, contradicting the statements made by Mr Lesina. The effect of their statements is that sly grog-selling exists on a very small scale in No-License districts; that drunkenness is not increasing, but is Comparatively rare iu No-License districts; that it is utterly false to say that perjury and corruption are any worse in No-License than in License, districts ; that it is the summit of absurdity to say lunacy has increased because of No-License . that there is no evidence that the introduction of drink into NoLicense areas is increasing, and they believe it to be untrue ; that the charge that blackmail, terrorism, and boycott are flourishing is without foundation.
