Ic a sculling race for the championship of Australia and a stake of on the Parramatta river, Pearce defeated Mitchell by five lengths. ■Mitchell got slightly the better of the start. Pearce quickly overhauled him and went to the front, holding his opponent easily. He led throughout, and won by five lengths. Mitchell made a game but unavailing effort towards the close, and finished badly pumped. The time was 43secs.
