CYCLE ROAD RACING.
The first of the, series of the three cycle races promoted by the ' Nonpareil Cycle Co., was run on Wednesday afternoon at Palmerston North. The starting' point selected was the corner of Rangi- > * tikei Dine and Boundary Road, • and the course proceeded along Boundary Road, Bunaythorpe Dine, Bunnythorpe-Kairanga Road and back by Rangitikei Dine to . starting point. This course was covered twice, totalling a distance - of about 22 miles. Out of 29 entries - 23 competitors went to the post. About 1000 spectators witnessed the race. Henderson, the scratch , man, who rode a Nonpareil .racer built according to his own experienced ideas, put -up fastest time, viz., ihr amiji 33 ,a»Ssecs; Day fjmins) was the first in, ihr Bmin 19 2*ssecs; Schlager (brain) second, ihr ymin aosecs; and W, ' Brady (Bmin aosecs) a clpse third ' ihr gmin 50 3-ssecs. . The second race, of this series will be run over the /same course, four weeks from date, Wednesday, August nth; The largest event will be the third, which will be ' the Nonpareil New Zealand championship, to be run oh'Wednesday, .
