FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A special tneeting of the abo\ was held in the Secretary’s offit on Tuesday evening, for the pu: pose of accepting the Secretary resignation, and to appoint a sue cessor, also to appoint judges, etc Mr Alex. Speirs (President) ot cupied the chair, and there wer 20 members present, including gpod percentage of ladies. The President explained tha stewards had been appointed fo the various sections at the forth coming show, as follows: Cu blooms and pot plants, Mesdame; A. S’. Easton and Gibbs ; fruit anc vegetables, Messrs Bullard and J Newth; dairy produce, Mr Jas Whyte ; cookery, Misses Ross anc Neylon-; deeprative,' Mrs C. Ro binsou and Mjss Symons ; raised laueous and amateur photography, Mesdames Barber, senr., and C Symons;. needle and fancy work, Mesdames Ffankland and Jenks children’s class, Mrs R. H. Barber; ipoultry, children’s pets, and eggs, Mr G. T, Woodroofe; dogs, Mr P. T. Robin Son ; comic section and competitions, Mrs Healey and Miss Signal; refreshments,' Mesdames Stewart and Collins* senr., and Misses Carter and Speirs. Judges were appointed as follows : Cut blooms, pot plants, fruit and vegetables, Messrs Mayo (Palmerston and -Feilding); dairy produce, Mr John Davies (Kuputaroa); cookery, cooking instructress, Wanganui Education Board; decorative, Mrs J. M. Collins (Palmerston N.); amateur photography and' painting, Mr H. Billens (Palmerston) ; needle and fancy work, Mesdames Hamerton (Wellington) and J. A. Nash (Palmerston); writing , and - drawing, schoolmaster' (Moutoa); poultry and dogs, Mr R. Bannister (Palmerston) ; gardens, Mr Wightou (Palmerston). . '
' It was decided to allow the stewards to select their own assistants for receiving and displaying exhibits. The President read the Secretary’s resignation, owing to his departure for Australia. He then referred to the active interest Mr Rae-Howard had taken in the Society since in inauguration. Mr Rae-Howard’s resignation was received with regret, and an appreciation of his services was authorised to be inserted in the minutes. Mr J. T. Levett was elected successor to Mr Rae-Hovvard, and the meeting rose.'
