VALEDICTORY.

A RETIRING COUNCILLOR,

< At last night’s Council meeting Cr Rae-Howard said that as that would be the last ordinary meeting of the Council that he would be able to attend he desired to wish the Mayor and Councillors an official good-bye. He would have liked very much to have seen all the proposed, works carried out, which he was sorry he was unable to do. Although he would be far away he would always be pleased to hear of the progress of the town. He concluded by wishing the Mayor and Councillors a successful term of office.

The Mayor said that he was very porry that they were going to lose the services of Cr , Rae-Howard. He had hoped that he would have had all the present Councillors with him for the full term, but he understood that Cr Rae-Howard was bettering himself, and he was sure he was echoing the'sentiments of the Councillors in wishing him every success. Cr Rimmer moved a motion expressing the Council’s appreciation, of Cr Rae-Howard’s services to be recorded on the minute book*
