EDUCATION BOARD ELECTIONS.

Nominations for the three vacancies caused by the automatic retirement of three members of the’ Wanganui Education Board closed on Monday. JThe retiring members, Messrs G. H. Bennett (Southern), Purnell (Central), and E* Dixon (Northern), all decided to seek re-election. The first two were returned unopposed. In the Northern Ward matters have assumed an interesting turn. Mr E. Dixon has as his opponent Mr P. O’Dea, late headmaster of the Patea District High School, and both aspirants have received wide support from their extensive district.
