THE FROLICS.
This strong combination of society entertainers in their unique costumes and their charm of mannerisms have not been long in establishing themselves well and favourably with- both the public and press. As a consequence Mr Muller informs us he has already arranged quite a number of return visits. “The Frolics”.play a season of one night in the Public Hall Foxton on Monday- night 12th inst., when their programme of refined and artistic mirth and melody will ripple onwards. Already the “Frolics” have been spoken of as follows : —“As individual artists and a combination the Frolics are versatile, clever, musicians, vocalists and entertainers, who suit the popular taste, v Mr Headlam is not only a- brilliant pianist, but an excellent comedian as well as an expert monologuist and reciter. His recitation was-an object lesson being free from taint of ranting and was characterised; by that simplicity and quietness oftone which was enhanced by his sympathetic vocalisation. Miss Alice Vaughan the soprano, comesin for a large share of the highest commendation for her contributions. Her voice is undoubtely a leggerio of great purity assisted by an almost perfect enhunciation as well as grace and dramatic action. Miss Yerex the soubrefte, is particulary charming in her songs and dancing. Quite a revelation as a “seria” and made many important conquests. The concerted pieces Were excellently -rendered? and again and again peals of hearty laughter rose from the audience. The topical songs made, a greathit, especially those with local reference. Altogetherthe entertainment was refined, amusing and artistic, besides being thoroughly enjoyable.” The foregoing comments seem to - bear out the management’s contention regarding the entertainment ability of “The Frolics.!’ We are assured that their entertainment is of a nature that fills a want in this country with a varied and; refined programme of mirth, melody and concerted vocal items much above the average.
