THE RECENT TRAGEDY.
Hedley Nye'' will come up on remand at the local S.M. Court on Monday at 10.30 J a.m. charged with the murder of his father.
Our Palmerston morning contemporary says that the theory suggested in connection with the occurrence by oue who has been in communication with the boy and knew- him, is that he was endeavouring to run away, a thing he had done repeatedly beforehand that he was taking the gun with him, when the victim, hearing him moving about attempted to stop him and take the gun from him when accidentally or otherwise, the gun went off.
Sub-Inspector O'Donovan, accompanied by Constables Kelly and Woods, visited “Sunnyside” this morning for the purpose of photographing exterior and interior views toi the home of the late Mr Nye. These pictures will' be for the use of the Court. In conversation with SubInspector O’Donovan to-day, we were informed that ,the accused lad, Hedley Nye, was getting on alright. The Inspector said the police deprecated any attempt to get the lad to make any statement.
