Wellington; July i.

Up to the present, 71 irien from various parts of ’ the Dominion, Laveibeen sent by the Labour Department to the bushfelling work provided by the Government at Rangitatau; Arrangements have been- made to srind another batch of 20 mens this, raornirig, and a further loriof 20 are to leave for the scene of the work to-morrow. These 40 men are from Wellington, Palmerston North, Christchurch and Auckland. Next week it is hoped to despatch 60 more men, in lots of 20. The Labour Department received advice to-day that men who have already started work at Rangitgtau are making good progress. There is room in the block for 250 men. Ten married men will be sent to Stratford to the Ongatue railway work there’ on Saturday, and on Monday ten more are to go to Nelson to the public works in that district.
