THE THIRD TEST,
The third test match between Australia arid England was commenced bri Thursday. The weather was sunny and there was a large attendance. The ground was spftish, Hartigau, Hopkins, Whiity and o’Conrior were omitted from the Australian team. ! Noble won the toss and sent his men into - bat, ; They made a very poof stand, the last wicket falling with the score at 188. The chief scorers were .Gregory 46, Ransford 45, Bardsley 30 and Trumper 27 not out. Of the. English bowlers Rhodes was the most successful securing four wickets for 38 runs. Jesspp strained the muscles. of his back and retired from the game.
At the time for drawing stumps the Englishmen had lost two wickets for 88 runs (Tyldesley not out 38 and Sharp not out 30).
