CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

* A meeting’of the Council of the Chamber or* Commerce was held in the Secretary’s office on Thursday night, for the purpose of considering what steps should be taken to have a Customs bond established at Foxton, There were present: Dr. Mandl (president), Messrs Rimraer, Speirs, Bullard, Walker, Phillips, Levett, and the Secretary. The Committee which had been appointed at a previous meeting to get inlprraation and report on the matter at last night's meeting, reported that nothing had yet been done.

After some discussion, it was resolved that a Committee consisting of Messrs Levett, Rlmmer and Speirs, be appointed to draft a letter to lie sent , to the Minister of Customs, in reference to the establishment of a bond at Foxton, and also one to be sent to the adjoining Chambers, asking for their cooperation in the matter.
